The groundbreaking concept for Opus One was forged by Robert Mondavi of the Napa Valley and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Bordeaux’s Château Mouton Rothschild. From the very first vintage in 1979 it has represented the perfect fusion of Bordeaux and the Napa Valley. Mouton Rothschild winemakers crafted Mondavi’s grapes into fantastic wine and aged it in French oak barrels. Rumors turned heads while tales and legends formed in the beginning days of what started as an elusive wine, but one thing remained consistent: Quality, vintage after vintage.
